Take advantage of the spring season to get out and enjoy what the community has to offer.

Vero Beach Community Church is bringing back their “Requiem for the Living” in an encore performance this Friday night, April 15. The choral presentation of composer Dan Forrest’s five-movement work is designed, in his words, to offer “a prayer for rest, traditionally for the deceased…Yet (they) form a narrative as much for the living as for their own struggle with pain and grief. The performance features chamber orchestra and choir, featuring soprano Rachel Carter Murphy and conducted by Andrew Galuska. It starts at 7 p.m. Admission is free, but an offering will be accepted. Continuing in the tradition of classical music, the Atlantic Classical Orchestra, conducted by David Amado, will present “Italian Postcards”, with cellist Oliver Herbert. The program includes works by Wolf, Tchaikovsky and Mendelssohn. The ACO describes the program as featuring works “of dazzling brilliance and kaleidoscopic emotional range… witty and delightful… melodious, dynamic”. You can also satisfy your craving for jazz and rock with a few extra concerts. Live! From Vero Beach presents “Touch & Go – the Ultimate Cars Tribute Band” at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 14 at Emerson Center, 1590 27th Ave., Vero Beach. Tickets cost between $30 and $70. The Treasure Coast Jazz Society perform “Memories of Louis Armstrong” with clarinetist John Skillman and trumpeter JB Scott, who played with the Dukes of Dixieland. The concert begins at noon on Saturday April 16 at the Vero Beach Yacht Club, 3601 Rio Vista Blvd., Vero Beach. Tickets are $40 to $45. There is an optional buffet lunch at 11:30 a.m. that costs $20. Gather the family for “Easter on the Farm”. This event, held at LaPorte Farms, involves toddlers with an Easter Egg Hunt, visits with the Easter Bunny and the Little Chicken, and lots to do with arts and crafts, rock mining precious, facial panting and much more. The Tipsy Turtle 2-Mile Run/Walk begins at 8 a.m. Saturday, April 16 at Sexton Plaza/Ocean Grill, 1050 Beachland Blvd., Vero Beach. It is followed by an after-party on the beach with music, a silent auction and vendors. The event benefits Coastal Connections, whose mission is to protect coastal habitats for the survival of sea turtles. Tipsy Turtle is one of the main events of the organization. The fun race attracts people of all ages. There is also a “Hatchling Dash” for riders under 10 years old. There will also be “super soft running t-shirts” for the first 250 registrants. Because the group is focused on minimizing the use of plastic at the event, all water will be served in a can and juice will be served in compostable wooden cups with recycling bins available on site. The Mad Hatter’s Tea begins at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 16 at the Vero Beach Women’s Club, 1534 21st St., Vero Beach. The event is a fundraiser for the Gifford Youth Achievement Center. The Comedy Zone at the Riverside Theater features headliner Ron Feingold and feature film John Charles this weekend. Joshua Armenteros is the master of ceremonies.
