Gippsland Country Music Festival stuck for 2023

AFTER a massive second event, organizers have announced the date for the third annual Gippsland Country Music Festival in 2023.

Scheduled for Saturday April 22, 2023, plans are already in place to make next year’s festival bigger than ever.

Organizers are celebrating a fantastic day of live music with some of Australia’s top country musicians. With just 24 hours to go until doors open on Saturday, the Gippsland Country Music Festival has sold out for its second year.

The show at Mossvale Park in Berry’s Creek was presented by Kasey Chambers, The Wolfe Brothers, Travis Collins and Adam Harvey, with Darlinghurst, Taylor Moss, Mick Harrington, The Strzelecki Stringbusters, Bob Wilson Barkindji Man, Lee SonnyBoy Morgan, DJ Brat Paisley, and MC Ben Mastwyk. It wasn’t just the music either, there were also line dancing lessons, whip cracking demonstrations, rides, market stalls and a host of delicious Gippsland food and drink including a Smokehouse barbecue and bars on site.

For Aidan McLaren, organizer and longtime Gippsland local, it was the culmination of months of hard work by the Gippsland Country Music Festival team.

“What a day,” he said.

“Perfect weather, an impressive sold-out crowd and all the bands were amazing. We couldn’t have asked for much more. Everything went well and the atmosphere was really special. The main highlights of the day should go to our four featured artists who were all amazing live – Kasey Chambers, The Wolfe Brothers, Travis Collins and Adam Harvey all played outstanding sets and really got the crowd moving. For most of them it was the first time they had played in Victoria since COVID and they were truly thankful and grateful to be performing in Gippsland. The line dancing led by local legend Linda Pink was also very well received, and it’s hard to top the sunset, which was magical.

To have the festival sold out for the second year in a row was something Aidan and the team had only dreamed of.

“Community support for this event has been overwhelming,” he said.

“We are really grateful. Selling an event two years in a row is no mean feat and a good sign that it is something that will hopefully be happening in Gippsland for many years to come. There are a lot of local people, local businesses and community groups involved in making this event happen, and it’s wonderful that it was a success and so many people can benefit from it. Being able to welcome such a caliber of artists to perform in our region is also great.

The team can’t wait to announce the details of what they have planned for next year.

“We are really excited for the 2023 event,” said Aidan.

“We have already locked in an amazing group of performers and are excited to add other non-musical elements to the event next year as well. I can’t say much more at this point other than it will truly be a celebration of all things COUNTRY!
