A new trailer and poster have been released for the country music horror film, Torn hearts. The Blumhouse movie was directed by Brea Grant (best friends forever, 12 hour shift), from a screenplay written by Rachel Koller Croft (Lady Bits with Lauren Giraldo). It features Katey Sagal (Married with children, Sons of Anarchy) as a retired country music star, who formed a semi-duet with his late sister. She is joined by Abby Quinn, Alexis Lemire, Joshua Leonardand Shiloh Fernandez.
Here is the synopsis of the film:
Blumhouse TV and EPIX present this cautionary tale of a rise to power on Nashville’s iconic country music scene. Two friends, up-and-coming artists on the brink of a big break, will do just about anything to make their dream come true, including a pilgrimage to the legendary and reclusive mansion of Harper Dutch (Golden Globe winner Katey Sagal) in hopes that she will record a song with them. While their lifelong idol seems intent on helping, the visit turns into a twisted series of mental and physical torment as the pair discover that Harper – and the other – may have other motives. With no other choice and desperate to record a song, the duo must go to great lengths to prove their dedication to their dream of becoming Nashville’s next country music star.
Sounds like a pretty crazy horror movie! It’s fun to see Katey Sagal back in a dark role after playing the bike club matriarch in SOA. It’s also fun to see her in the role of a singer, because she’s a real musician who sang on other projects, and she even plays a singer on her current series, The Connors.
It looks pretty wild. Check out the trailer and poster below, and watch Torn hearts on EPIX on May 20.
